Alzheimer's Association

Maine Chapter

The mission of the Alzheimer’s Association, Maine Chapter, is to eliminate Alzheimer’s disease through the advancement of research; to provide and enhance care and support for all affected; and to reduce the risk of dementia through the promotion of brain health. While pursuing our vision of a world without Alzheimer’s disease and other related dementias, the Chapter staff and volunteers offer dementia specific educational programs, care consultation services, and support group facilitation statewide. Helpline is accessible 24 hours a day, seven days a week and affords care giving and educational information, and referral services. Chapter staff educate consumers about keeping their brains healthy and potentially reducing their risk of developing Alzheimer’s. We advocate and educate Federal and State Legislators on critical Alzheimer policy issues and work to increase federal funding for research and care programs. We offer safety programs for individuals with dementia that wander or have a medical emergency. We encourage the financial support of research to find preventative measures, enhance care, and discover a cure, as well as encourage individuals to enroll in clinical trials.

The Chapter’s funding comes from business, individual, and granting agency donations. To contact Chapter staff call 207-772-0115 Monday through Friday from 8:30 a.m. to 5 p.m., or any time, day or night 1-800-272-3900. Visit us at 383 US Route One, #2C, Scarborough, ME 04074.
